Jurassic Box was the 9th installment of this American science fiction convention, dedicated to encouraging fossilized nerds to dress up in cardboard costumes. 2018’s theme, “Jurassic Box”, was the least effective cardboard pun yet. Despite this fact it was expected to bode well for attendance, which typically numbers in the dozens. The convention had become so successful that it generated a string of successful sequels, despite the vehement refusal of Steven Spielberg to contribute a large cash infusion. Numerous articles based on the convention have been written by various news outlets, in spite of their best judgment and the strenuous objections of their editorial staffs.
Cardboard Dinosaur in Piedmont Park
Ace Cardboard News Network reporter Thomas Kerns captured what is believed to be a new commershul being shot by the dimwitted marketing team behind Cardboard*Con.
The photos and videos show a boxplayer outfitted in a dinosaur costume, running through Atlanta’s Piedmont Park. The boxplayer appears to have been tame however, at one point eating peanuts from the hand of a passerby. Speculation is that the theme for this year’s Cardboard*Con will be “Jurassic Park”, based largely on the “offishul” announcement that it would be.
2018 Badj Art Reveal
Our Badj Committee are embarrassed to reveal the artwork for Cardboard*Con 2018!! This year’s artwork is entitled “Knapsack” and was designed by Babs Blackburn, embattled unofficial Mayor of Lesser Kennesaw. She was impeached.
2018 Theme Jurassic Box
Late last night at the International House of Pancakes the Cardboard*Con Theme Committee announced that this year’s theme would be “Jurassic Box”. They then unveiled, with great solemnity, a poster reading “A Convention 900 Million Years in the Making”.
It means something to the cardboard community when boxplayers are recognized by outsiders who might typically mock our way of life. This week Public Broadcasting Station WPBA Channel 30 added a new segment to their Atlanta-centric series “Secret Atlanta” by showcasing the city’s very own Box Heroes!
Footie Mobsters
This year several “representatives” from an organization called the “Footie Mob” interrupted our fan-favorite panel “Cyclical Sales Demand for European Structural Paper Goods”. One mobster, who seemed especially proud of his scarf, began yelling “It would be a shame if something happened to your pretty little convention!!”.
His friend, wearing a soccer boxtume, seemed equally animated, but no one could understand what he was saying due to the box covering his head.
Did you meet a girl at the dumpster who was crazy for you? Did you meet a boy who was cute as he could be while wearing a cardboard box on his head? You may be suffering from Summer Love and there’s no cure for it but a good old-fashioned Grease-themed Cardboard*Con!! This year the costume contest was been replaced by a DANCE CONTEST!!
2017 Badj Art Reveal
Our Badj Committee are horrified to reveal the artwork for Cardboard*Con 2017!! This year’s artwork is entitled “Last Minute” and was designed by Fob Farnesworth, who knocked on our door asking for fifty cents to catch the bus.
